“Wild n Well is for anyone who has ever felt like they need to lose weight to fit in, has felt unworthy or not good enough in the body they have”

Meet Olivia

Welcome to my practice.
I’m Olivia Maree and I am dedicated to providing a compassionate and solution-focused approach to eating difficulties and body image which embraces the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES). As a non-diet counselor, I reject the notion that weight determines health and encourage my clients to transcend society's fatphobic perspective on bodies. I aim to empower individuals to cultivate a positive relationship with food, body, and self, focusing on how they feel and what they like rather than arbitrary weight metrics. Through personalized counseling sessions, I guide clients toward embracing body diversity, fostering self-acceptance, and achieving sustainable health goals that prioritize mental and physical wellness.

I specialize in working with people who are experiencing eating difficulties that don’t quite fit into an eating disorder label. Those that feel problematic and are causing disruption but aren’t seen as ‘severe’ or ‘bad’ as our more well-known labels. I believe that these disordered habits that go unnoticed are extremely damaging and hurtful and require therapeutic attention. With lived Eating Disorder experience my knowledge and understanding are deeply rooted.

Throughout my childhood and adolescent life, I struggled unknowingly with emotional eating tendencies and in turn suffered from incompetence of our current systems approach toward eating psychology and compassionate care. At only 13 years of age - I was dieting on Jenny Craig trying to get a handle on what was perceived by our system to be a ‘weight issue’. But at age 14 years old I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer - the trauma of this childhood diagnosis led me to use food to soothe often, disengaging with the outside world. My family and I were advised by my cancer doctors that I needed to lose weight and I quickly lost 35 kgs. From this point, I developed an obsession with healthy eating, and my ‘healthy’ lifestyle became increasingly distorted. Through this fast and hard weight-loss, I was immersed in the complexities of fitness and dieting, and with disregard for the deep pain and hurt I was feeling within, a turbulent and fragile relationship between my mental health and body image grew.

Going on to work as a personal trainer and health coach to women inside a gym for 6 years I was exposed to the downfalls of diet and skinny culture, and subsequently watching women relentlessly chase weight loss (even at the cost of their health). Witnessing women deeply struggle with their food relationships it became clear that the gym and fitness world was only a fragment of the story and I left my business to pursue a different path.

In 2018 & 2019 I was invited to host and guide women through life-changing well-being retreats in a remote village in Croatia where I first utilized my counselling practice and began my educational journey studying counseling, eating psychology & body image.

Wild n Well emerged from my personal experiences and professional insights, reflecting a commitment to challenging conventional approaches to weight loss and health.

The Wild n Well Ethos

The main catalyst that supported my exit from toxic behaviour cycles was fostering a deep nature connection. Spending weeks immersed in the forest, camping, and living in off-grid societies. It is in these places that i learned about nature’s potential at teaching us about beauty and ourselves.
